What Is a Licensed Veterinary Technician?

Licensed Veterinary Technicians are nurses of Veterinary Medicine. They hold college degrees in Veterinary Technology and are licensed to practice by the state of New York. Licensed Technicians are experienced individuals whose daily responsibilities include anesthetizing patients, taking X-rays, collecting and running lab work, caring for hospitalized patients, educating our clients, and many more responsibilities.

Lauren

Assistant Practice Manager
Licensed Veterinary Technician

Lauren has been part of our clinic since 2004. She graduated from SUNY Canton in 2005 with a Veterinary Technology and Hospital Management degree. After being a critical part of the management team as Lead Licensed Technician for over a decade, Lauren was promoted to Assistant Practice Manager. Lauren’s education, knowledge, expertise, and invaluable experience benefit our patients, clients, and staff daily. Every day her priority is to help our patients (and try not to get bit!). Outside of work, Lauren likes to spend time with her husband and 2 kids, their hound, 3 cats, an old horse, a duck, and some chickens. Her farm, full of pets, is part of her family.
Kathy

Kathy

Licensed Veterinary Technician

Kathy graduated in 2004 with her degree in Veterinary Technology from SUNY Delhi. When she is not busy working, she is an avid gardener, maintains a small goat herd, and trains her cattle dog in agility. Everyone at work appreciates her goat herd for the wonderful goat cheese she brings us!
Carrie

Carrie

Licensed Veterinary Technician, Shift Manager

Carrie graduated in 2014 from SUNY-ESF with a degree in Conservation Biology and has always dreamt of a career caring for animals. She initially worked as a zookeeper before deciding the veterinary field was for her. Carrie joined CAC in 2016 and worked as an assistant while pursuing her Veterinary Technology degree through an online study, then graduated and passed her state boards! We are so proud of her! Carries’ knowledge, experience, and dedication have earned her the role of Shift Manager at the clinic. As a shift manager, Carrie is responsible for helping the day go as smoothly as possible by being a part of the management team.
Ally

Ally

Licensed Veterinary Technician, Shift Manager

Hi, I’m Ally! I graduated from an online Veterinary Technology program in 2013 with the help of the CAC crew! My favorite parts of being a technician are getting to know you and your pets and helping you understand your pets’ health and our doctors’ recommendations. When I’m not at CAC, I spend time with my family and our cats – you can usually find me reading a good book with a cat curled up. Ally has also earned the role of Shift Manager and is a critical part of the management team here at CAC.
